How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take, usually starting with one 30 mg tablet daily.

Method

Take Sinafex by mouth with food or immediately after a meal. Swallow the tablets whole; do not chew, crush, or divide them.

Important

The maximum daily dose will be determined and adjusted by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Numbness or tingling sensations
  • Loss of appetite or decreased appetite
  • Muscle pain
  • Weakness
  • Rash
  • Decreased testosterone levels
  • High potassium levels in blood (hyperkalemia)
  • Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity)
  • Headache
  • Seizures
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Difficulty breathing (dyspnea)
  • Cough
  • Indigestion (dyspepsia)
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain, upper abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Muscle spasms
  • Back pain
  • Low blood calcium (hypocalcemia)
RARE
  • Hives (urticaria)
  • Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, which can cause difficulty swallowing or breathing (angioedema)
  • Unusually fast or strong heartbeat, which may be due to very low calcium levels in the blood (QT prolongation and ventricular arrhythmia secondary to hypocalcemia)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Sinafex if you are allergic to cinacalcet or any other ingredients, or if your blood calcium levels are too low.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had seizures, liver problems, or heart failure before starting Sinafex.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience muscle cramps, twitches, numbness, tingling around your mouth, fingers, or toes, seizures, confusion, or loss of consciousness, as these could be signs of very low calcium.
  • Low calcium levels can cause heart rhythm problems. Tell your doctor if your heart beats unusually fast or strong, or if you have a history of heart rhythm issues or take medications that affect heart rhythm.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience dizziness or seizures while taking Sinafex.

  • Sinafex should not be given to children under 18 years old with parathyroid cancer or primary hyperparathyroidism.
