Simvastatin ratiopharm lowers 'bad' cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides in your blood, and increases 'good' cholesterol (HDL).
Your doctor will decide your dose, usually 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, or up to 80 mg of simvastatin once daily; for children (10-17 years), the usual starting dose is 10 mg in the evening.
Take your tablet in the evening, with or without food; if you also take a bile acid binding medicine, take Simvastatin ratiopharm at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after that medicine.
The maximum daily dose for adults is 80 mg; for children and adolescents, the maximum daily dose is 40 mg.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.4.2023)
