Simvastatin ratiopharm helps to lower high cholesterol and certain fats in the blood, while also increasing good cholesterol.
The usual dose for adults is 10 mg, 20 mg, or 40 mg taken by mouth once a day. For children (10-17 years), the starting dose is usually 10 mg in the evening.
Take the tablets in the evening. You can take them with or without food. If you are also taking a medicine that binds bile acids, take Simvastatin ratiopharm at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after that medicine.
Do not take more than 80 mg per day (adults). For children, the maximum daily dose is 40 mg.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.4.2023)
