How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 50 mg.

Method

Take one tablet about an hour before you plan to have sex. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food, but may work slower if taken with a heavy meal.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day. Doses above 100 mg do not increase how well it works.

  • Changes in how you see colors (like a blue tint, difficulty telling blue and green apart)
  • Blurry vision
  • Seeing things differently

RARE
  • An allergic reaction (signs include sudden wheezing, trouble breathing, dizziness, swelling of eyelids, face, lips, or throat)
  • Chest pains during or after sex (sit up, relax, do NOT use nitrates for pain)
  • An erection that lasts more than 4 hours and is painful (call a doctor right away)
  • Sudden decrease or loss of vision
  • Severe skin reactions (signs include severe peeling or swelling of skin, blisters in mouth, genitals, and around eyes, fever)
  • Seizures or convulsions
  • Vomiting
  • Skin rash
  • Eye irritation
  • Red or bloodshot eyes
  • Eye pain
  • Seeing flashes of light or bright light
  • Sensitivity to light

  • Temporary reduced blood flow to parts of the brain

  • Seeing halos around lights

  • Changed color of the white part of the eye
  • Bleeding from the penis
  • Blood in semen
  • Dry nose
  • Swelling inside the nose
  • Irritability
  • Sudden decrease or loss of hearing

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sildenafil, peanuts, soy, or any other ingredients in it.
  • Do not take if you are using medicines called nitrates, as this mix can lower your blood pressure to a dangerous level.
  • Do not take if you are using nitric oxide donor medicines, like amyl nitrite ('poppers'), as this can also lower your blood pressure to a dangerous level.
  • Do not take if you are using riociguat (a medicine for high blood pressure in the lungs).
  • Do not take if you have severe heart or liver problems.

  • Do not take if you recently had a stroke or heart attack, or if you have low blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have certain rare inherited eye diseases (like retinitis pigmentosa).
  • Do not take if you have previously lost vision due to a rare eye nerve condition called NAION.
  • Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away if you suddenly notice a decrease or loss of vision.
  • Do not use Sildenafil Stada with other oral or skin treatments for erectile dysfunction.
  • Do not take Sildenafil Stada if you do not have erectile dysfunction.
  • Do not take Sildenafil Stada if you are a woman.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and affect your vision. See how you react to it before driving or operating machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Reduce the dose in liver impairment. Significant adverse reactions include hypotension, ortostatic hypotension, headache and visual disturbances. Consider potential interactions especially with nitrates. (updated 25.11.2024)
