How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 50 mg.

Method

Take one tablet whole with a glass of water about one hour before sexual activity.

Important

Do not take Sildenafil Sandoz more than once a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache

  • Facial flushing or hot flushes (sudden feeling of warmth in the upper body)
  • Indigestion
  • Changes in color vision, blurred vision, vision disturbances

RARE
  • Vomiting

  • Eye irritation, red eyes, eye pain, light flashes in vision, sensitivity to light, watery eyes
  • Palpitations, fast heartbeat
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Muscle pain
  • Drowsiness
  • Reduced sense of touch
  • Vertigo (spinning sensation)
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Dry mouth
  • Sinus congestion, nasal mucous membrane inflammation (symptoms include runny nose, sneezing, and blocked nose)
  • Upper abdominal pain, heartburn (gastroesophageal reflux disease)
  • Blood in urine
  • Pain in arms or legs
  • Nosebleed
  • Feeling of warmth
  • Fatigue
  • Fainting
  • Stroke, heart attack, irregular heartbeat
  • Temporarily reduced blood flow to parts of the brain
  • Constricting feeling in the throat
  • Numb mouth
  • Bleeding at the back of the eye, double vision, decreased visual acuity, abnormal sensation in the eye, swelling of the eye or eyelid, small spots in visual field, halos around light sources, dilated pupils, discoloration of the white of the eye
  • Bleeding from the penis
  • Blood in semen
  • Dry nose
  • Swelling inside the nose
  • Irritability
  • Sudden decrease or loss of hearing
  • Severe skin reactions (like severe peeling and swelling of the skin, blisters in the mouth, genitals, around the eyes, or fever)
  • Seizures

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Sildenafil Sandoz if you are allergic to sildenafil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are using nitrate medicines (e.g., for chest pain), as this combination can dangerously lower your blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you are using nitric oxide donor medicines, such as amyl nitrite ("poppers"), as this can also dangerously lower your blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you are using riociguat (a medicine for high blood pressure in the lungs).
  • Do not take if you have severe heart or liver problems.

  • Do not take if you have recently had a stroke or heart attack, or if you have low blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have certain rare inherited eye diseases, such as retinitis pigmentosa.
  • Do not take if you have ever had vision loss due to a condition called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
  • If you experience a sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop taking Sildenafil Sandoz and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have an erection that lasts longer than 4 hours, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have an allergic reaction (sudden wheezing, trouble breathing, dizziness, swelling of eyelids, face, lips, or throat), stop taking Sildenafil Sandoz and seek medical help.
  • If you experience chest pain during or after sex, sit in a semi-sitting position, relax, and do not use nitrates to treat it. Seek medical help.
  • If you experience severe skin reactions (like severe peeling and swelling of the skin, blisters in the mouth, genitals, around the eyes, or fever), stop taking Sildenafil Sandoz and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you experience seizures, stop taking Sildenafil Sandoz and contact your doctor immediately.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Reduce the dose in liver impairment. Significant adverse reactions include hypotension, ortostatic hypotension, headache and visual disturbances. Consider potential interactions especially with nitrates. (updated 25.11.2024)
