How to Use

Dosage

Adults and elderly usually start with one or two 800 mg tablets, taken three times a day with meals.

Method

Take the tablets after or with meals. Swallow them whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break them.

Important

Your doctor will adjust your dose based on your blood phosphorus levels, and they will determine your maximum daily dose.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sevelamer carbonate or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if your blood phosphate levels are low.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a blocked bowel.
  • Tell your doctor if you have trouble swallowing. You might need a different form of this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have problems with stomach or bowel movement, or if you vomit often.

  • Tell your doctor if you have active inflammatory bowel disease or have had major stomach or bowel surgery.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you get severe stomach pain, bowel problems, or blood in your stools. These could be signs of serious bowel inflammation.
  • Constipation is very common and can be a sign of a blocked bowel. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you experience constipation.
