Sertralin Krka is a medicine used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults, and OCD in children and teens.

How to Use

Dosage

For most adults, the usual starting dose is 50 mg once a day. For panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, or PTSD, the starting dose is 25 mg once a day for the first week, then it increases to 50 mg once a day. For children and teens (6-17 years) with OCD, the starting dose is 25 mg or 50 mg once a day, depending on age.

Method

You can take the tablets with or without food, once a day, either in the morning or in the evening.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 200 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, upset stomach (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain), dry mouth, problems with ejaculation (for men), changes in appetite (less or more hungry), anxiety, nervousness, low sex drive, shaking, numbness or tingling, vision problems, ringing in ears, fast heartbeat, hot flashes, yawning, sweating a lot, skin rash, back or joint pain, muscle pain, irregular periods (for women), trouble getting or keeping an erection (for men), feeling unwell, chest pain, fever, weight gain.
RARE
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, symptoms of psychosis (like seeing or hearing things that aren't there), aggression, seizures, very fast or slow heartbeat, bleeding problems, severe allergic reactions (e.g., severe rash, swelling of face or throat, trouble breathing), yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), liver problems, severe stomach pain (pancreatitis), muscle weakness or pain, low blood sugar, drug dependence, coma, heart attack, unusual heart rhythms, hair loss, skin reactions to sunlight, prolonged erection (for men).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Sertralin Krka if you are allergic to sertraline or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take Sertralin Krka if you are taking or have recently taken certain medicines called MAO inhibitors or pimozide. Your doctor will tell you how long to wait between treatments.
  • Get help right away if you have thoughts about harming yourself or committing suicide.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have a seizure, or if you have symptoms of serotonin syndrome (like feeling agitated, confused, fast heartbeat, fever, sweating, diarrhea).
  • Tell your doctor if you have bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, or if you get very restless and can't sit still (akathisia).

  • Discuss with your doctor if you have other health issues like liver problems, diabetes, bleeding issues, eye problems (e.g., glaucoma), or heart problems (like an abnormal heart rhythm or slow heartbeat).
  • Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice while taking Sertralin Krka.
