How to Use

Dosage

Typically, the starting dose for adults is 20 mg once daily, but it can vary based on your condition and your doctor's advice.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water; do not chew them.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 60 mg; for elderly patients, it generally should not exceed 40 mg.

RARE
  • Low salt levels in the blood
  • Decreased platelet count, increasing risk of bleeding and bruising

  • Agitation (restlessness)
  • Panic attacks
  • Confusion
  • Stuttering
  • Aggression
  • Seizures
  • Vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels)
  • Sudden swelling of tissues around neck, face, mouth, and/or throat
  • Pain in the esophagus when food/drink passes to stomach
  • Pharyngitis (sore throat)
  • Liver inflammation
  • Lung problems
  • Sensitivity to sunlight
  • Skin bleeding
  • Muscle pain
  • Urination problems
  • Milk secretion (galactorrhea)
  • Mucous membrane bleeding

Important Warnings

  • If you experience a rash or allergic reactions like itching, swollen lips/face, or breathing difficulties, stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
  • Do not take Seromex if you are currently taking or have recently taken irreversible, non-selective MAO inhibitors, as this can cause serious, potentially fatal reactions.
  • Do not take Seromex with metoprolol (for heart failure) due to an increased risk of a very slow heart rate.
  • If you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide at any point, contact your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop fever, muscle stiffness, tremors, confusion, irritability, or extreme agitation, as these can be signs of serotonin syndrome.

  • If you experience a manic episode, contact your doctor immediately, as your Seromex treatment may need to be stopped.
  • If you have a seizure or if seizures become more frequent, contact your doctor immediately, as your Seromex treatment may need to be stopped.
  • If you feel restless and can't sit or stand still (akathisia), contact your doctor, as increasing the dose might worsen this condition.
  • Report immediately to your doctor if your skin becomes red, develops blisters, or starts peeling, as these are rare but serious skin reactions.
