How to Use

Dosage

Adults: Typically 20 mg once daily. For bulimia, 60 mg once daily. Your doctor may adjust your dose.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water, or dissolve it in half to one glass of water and drink it right away. 20 mg tablets can be split.

Important

Do not take more than 60 mg in a single day.

RARE
  • Feeling detached from your body, strange thoughts
  • Abnormal cheerfulness
  • Sexual problems, including difficulty having an orgasm, which sometimes continue after stopping treatment
  • Teeth grinding
  • Muscle twitching, involuntary movements, problems with balance or coordination
  • Memory problems
  • Dilated pupils
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nosebleeds
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Hair loss
  • Increased tendency to bruise
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Cold sweat
  • Difficulty urinating
  • General feeling of being unwell, feeling abnormal, feeling hot or cold
  • Abnormal liver function test results
  • Low blood sodium levels
  • Decreased number of platelets (increases risk of bleeding and bruising)
  • Decreased number of white blood cells
  • Unnatural or wild behavior
  • Hallucinations
  • Agitation
  • Panic attacks
  • Confusion
  • Stammering
  • Aggression
  • Seizures
  • Vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels)
  • Rapid swelling of tissues around the neck, face, mouth, and/or throat
  • Pain in the esophagus when swallowing food or drink
  • Pharyngitis (throat inflammation)
  • Liver inflammation
  • Lung problems
  • Sensitivity to sunlight
  • Bleeding in the skin
  • Muscle pain
  • Milk secretion
  • Mucosal bleeding

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away if you get a rash, itching, swelling of your lips, face, or tongue, difficulty breathing, or severe skin reactions like redness, blistering, or peeling skin.
  • Do not take Seromex if you are taking certain other medicines called MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) for depression, as this can cause very serious or life-threatening reactions.
  • Do not take Seromex if you are taking metoprolol for heart failure, as it may cause your heart to beat too slowly.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide at any point during treatment, contact your doctor immediately or go to a hospital.
  • If you feel restless and cannot sit or stand still (akathisia), contact your doctor, as increasing the Seromex dose may worsen this condition.
