Seretide Evohaler

How to Use

Dosage

Usually 2 inhalations twice a day.

Method

This medicine is inhaled through your mouth into your lungs. Remember to rinse your mouth with water after each dose to prevent fungal infections.

Important

Do not take more than 4 inhalations per day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • More common colds (especially for COPD patients)
  • Thrush (sore, creamy-yellow patches) in your mouth and throat, sore tongue, hoarseness, or throat irritation.
  • Aching, swollen joints and muscle pain
  • Muscle cramps
  • Pneumonia and bronchitis (lung infection) (reported in COPD patients)
  • Bruising and bone fractures (reported in COPD patients)
  • Sinus infections (pain or fullness in the nose, cheeks, or behind the eyes) (reported in COPD patients)
  • Low blood potassium (can cause irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, or cramps) (reported in COPD patients)
RARE
  • Increased blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia)
  • Cataracts (cloudy eye lens)
  • Very fast heartbeats (tachycardia)
  • Shaking (tremor) and fast or uneven heartbeats (palpitations)
  • Chest pain
  • Feeling anxious (mainly in children)
  • Sleep problems
  • Allergic skin rash
  • Worsening breathing or wheezing right after using Seretide. If this happens, stop using Seretide, use your fast-acting rescue inhaler, and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Effects on your body's natural steroid hormone production (especially with high doses over long periods), such as slowed growth in children and teenagers, thinning bones, glaucoma (an eye condition), weight gain, or a round face (Cushing's syndrome).
  • Changes in behavior, like being unusually active or irritable (mainly in children)
  • Irregular heartbeats or extra beats (arrhythmias)
  • Fungal infection in the food pipe (esophagus), which can make swallowing difficult
  • Feeling depressed or aggressive (mainly in children)
  • Blurred vision

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Seretide if you are allergic to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Seretide should not be used for sudden asthma attacks. Always use a fast-acting rescue inhaler (like salbutamol) for such situations and keep it with you.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease (including irregular or fast heartbeat), overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, diabetes, low potassium levels, or any lung infection (like tuberculosis).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your asthma gets worse or your breathing difficulties increase.
  • Do not suddenly stop using Seretide or reduce your dose without your doctor's advice, as this can worsen your breathing problems.
