How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 12 with asthma, or adults with COPD, the typical dosage is one inhalation twice a day. For children aged 4-12 with asthma, it is also one inhalation twice a day.

Method

Inhale the powder through your mouth into your lungs. Rinse your mouth with water and/or brush your teeth after each dose to prevent side effects.

Important

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor, which is usually one inhalation twice daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache.
  • Thrush (a fungal infection) in the mouth or throat, leading to soreness, hoarseness, or throat irritation.
  • Aching or swollen joints and muscle pain, muscle cramps.
  • More common colds (for COPD patients).
  • Bruises and bone fractures (for COPD patients).
  • Sinus infection (feeling of pressure or blockage in the nose, cheeks, or behind the eyes).
  • Low potassium levels in the blood, which can cause irregular heartbeat or muscle weakness.
RARE
  • High blood sugar.
  • Clouding of the eye lens (cataracts).
  • Fast or irregular heartbeats, tremors, chest pain.
  • Anxiety or sleep problems (especially in children).
  • Allergic skin rash.
  • Worsening breathing or wheezing right after using Seretide.
  • Hormone changes, which can lead to slow growth in children, weakened bones, eye problems (glaucoma), weight gain, or a round face (Cushing's syndrome).
  • Behavior changes like being overly active or irritable (especially in children).
  • Fungal infection in the esophagus, causing difficulty swallowing.
  • Depression or aggression (especially in children).
  • Blurred vision.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Seretide if you are allergic to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or lactose.
  • Seretide is not for sudden breathing problems; use your fast-acting reliever inhaler for attacks.
  • Do not stop using Seretide or change your dose without talking to your doctor first.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, diabetes, low potassium, or a history of tuberculosis or other lung infections.
  • If your breathing worsens or you experience any signs of an allergic reaction right after using Seretide (like trouble breathing, rash, or swelling), stop using it and seek medical help right away.
