How to Use
Dosage
One inhalation two times a day, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Method
Inhale the powder through your mouth into your lungs.
Important
Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor, usually no more than two inhalations per day.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Headache
- •More common colds (upper respiratory infections, especially in COPD patients)
- •Pneumonia (lung infection) in COPD patients, with symptoms like fever, chills, increased cough, more phlegm, or worse breathing
- •Thrush (sore, yellowish patches) in the mouth or throat, which can cause pain in the tongue, hoarseness, or throat irritation
- •Aching, swollen joints and muscle pain
- •Muscle cramps
- •Bruises and bone fractures (in COPD patients)
- •Sinus infections (in COPD patients), causing pressure or stuffy feeling in the nose, cheeks, or behind the eyes, sometimes with throbbing pain
- •Low blood potassium, which can cause irregular heartbeats, muscle weakness, or cramps
RARE
- •Allergic reactions, such as sudden difficulty breathing, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, itching, or hives
- •High blood sugar
- •Cataracts (cloudy eye lens)
- •Very fast heart rate
- •Tremor (shakiness) and fast or irregular heartbeats (palpitations), which usually improve with continued treatment
- •Chest pain
- •Restlessness (mainly in children)
- •Sleep disturbances
- •Serefarm can affect the body's normal steroid hormone production (especially with high doses over time), leading to slowed growth in children, thinning bones, glaucoma, weight gain, or a rounded (moon) face (Cushing's syndrome)
- •Behavioral changes, such as being unusually active or irritable (mainly in children)
- •Irregular heart rhythm or extra heartbeats (arrhythmia)
- •Fungal infection in the esophagus (food pipe), causing difficulty swallowing
- •Depression or aggression (more common in children)
- •Blurred vision
- •Feeling of anxiety
Important Warnings
- Do not use Serefarm if you are allergic to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or lactose.
- Serefarm is for prevention and should not be used for sudden breathing problems. Always have a separate rescue inhaler for emergencies.
- Do not stop using Serefarm or change your dose without talking to your doctor first, as your symptoms might get worse.
- Rinse your mouth with water and/or brush your teeth after each dose to help prevent mouth infections and hoarseness.
- Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, low potassium, tuberculosis, or any other lung infection.

- Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, including asthma medicines and over-the-counter drugs.
- Contact your doctor immediately if your asthma or breathing problems get worse, or if you experience blurred vision or other changes in your sight.
