How to Use
Dosage
For adults and children over 12 with asthma, or adults with COPD, the typical dosage is one inhalation twice a day.
Method
Inhale the powder through your mouth into your lungs. After each use, rinse your mouth with water and/or brush your teeth to prevent side effects.
Important
Do not take more than your doctor prescribes. It is important to use this medicine daily as instructed by your doctor and not to stop suddenly.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Headache (often goes away with continued use).
- •Increased common colds (for COPD patients).
- •Oral thrush (sore, yellowish patches) in the mouth and throat, sore tongue, hoarseness, and irritated throat.
- •Aching, swollen joints and muscle pain.
- •Muscle cramps.
- •Bruising and fractures (for COPD patients).
- •Sinusitis (feeling of pressure or stuffiness in the nose, cheeks, and behind the eyes, sometimes with throbbing pain) for COPD patients.
- •Low blood potassium (which can cause irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, or cramps) for COPD patients.
RARE
- •High blood sugar levels.
- •Cataracts (clouding of the eye lens).
- •Fast or irregular heartbeats, or tremors (shaking).
- •Chest pain.
- •Feeling restless or having trouble sleeping (more common in children).
- •Skin rash from an allergy.
- •Changes in your body's natural hormones (with high or long-term doses), which can affect growth in children, bone strength, eyes, or cause weight gain or a rounded face.
- •Changes in behavior, like being unusually active or irritable (more common in children).
- •Fungal infection in the food pipe, which can make swallowing hard.
- •Feeling depressed or aggressive (more common in children).
- •Blurred vision.
- •Stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhea.
- •Feeling tired, losing appetite, or losing weight.
- •Low blood sugar or low blood pressure.
- •Seizures.
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or lactose.
- Tell your doctor about any heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, low potassium, or lung infections you have.
- Serefarm is not for sudden breathing attacks; always keep your fast-acting inhaler with you.
- Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, as they might interact with Serefarm.
- Contact your doctor immediately if your breathing worsens, or if you experience severe allergic reactions (like swelling or severe difficulty breathing) or signs of pneumonia (fever, chills, increased cough/phlegm).
