Method

Sendoxan is given by a healthcare professional as an injection into a vein, often slowly as an infusion, or sometimes as tablets. The method and time depend on your dose.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined by your doctor as part of your treatment plan, as there is no single fixed daily maximum.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Bone marrow problems, like low white blood cells.
  • Weakened immune system.
  • Feeling sick (nausea) and throwing up (vomiting).
  • Hair loss.
  • Bladder inflammation and blood in your urine.
  • Fever.
  • Infections.
  • Fever caused by low white blood cells.
  • Chills, feeling weak, tired, or unwell.
RARE
  • Lung infection (pneumonia) or severe body infection (sepsis).
  • Changes in blood counts, such as low platelets or anemia.
  • Allergic reactions.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Nerve problems, like pain or numbness in hands and feet.
  • Hearing loss.
  • Fast heartbeat, heart muscle disease, heart failure, or changes in heart's electrical activity.
  • Diarrhea, mouth sores, constipation, or stomach pain.
  • Problems with sperm production, ovulation problems, or missed periods.
  • Serious blood cancers (leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome) or other cancers, including in the urinary tract.
  • Dehydration.
  • Dizziness.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
  • Bleeding.
  • Liver problems or liver inflammation.
  • Skin rash or inflammation.
  • Permanent missed periods or permanent lack of sperm.
  • Chest pain.
  • Very serious bacterial infection leading to shock.
  • Serious illness from fast breakdown of cancer cells.
  • Serious bleeding disorder affecting many body parts, causing confusion and kidney issues.
  • A serious blood disorder that causes anemia and kidney problems.
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock).
  • Hormone imbalance causing too much fluid in the body.
  • Low sodium in blood and fluid retention.
  • Confusion.
  • Seizures, changes in sensation, or taste problems.
  • Vision problems, eye inflammation, or swollen eyes.
  • Irregular heartbeats, heart attack, heart inflammation, or chest pain with effort.
  • High or low blood pressure.
  • Severe breathing problems, fluid in lungs, or severe shortness of breath.
  • Lung scarring, fluid around lungs, breathing difficulty, cough, or high blood pressure in lungs.
  • Bleeding in the stomach or intestines, inflamed salivary glands, or inflammation of the large or small intestine.
  • Liver vein blockages, active viral hepatitis, enlarged liver, yellow skin (jaundice), fluid in belly, or brain problems due to liver disease.
  • Severe skin and mouth inflammation with high fever, skin peeling, discolored palms/nails/soles, or redness in irradiated skin.
  • Muscle breakdown or muscle cramps.
  • Bleeding in the urinary tract, bladder swelling or inflammation, kidney problems, or high creatinine in blood.
  • Headache, pain, organ failure, or reactions at the injection site.
  • Weight gain.
  • Worsening of existing cancers, new cancers, or risk of cancer in offspring.
  • Changes in blood counts, such as low lymphocytes or low hemoglobin.
  • Too much water in the body.
  • Low or high blood sugar.
  • Brain disease, changes in brain white matter, bone marrow problems, tremors, strange smells, or sensory changes.
  • Increased tear production.
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Changes in heart rate, poor heart pumping, fluid around heart, palpitations, or heart bleeding.
  • Blood clots in lungs or veins, blood vessel inflammation, or reduced blood flow to arms/legs.
  • Blocked nose, sneezing, lung inflammation, sore throat, runny nose, or allergic lung issues.
  • Liver inflammation, blocked bile ducts, liver damage leading to liver failure, or high liver enzymes/bilirubin.
  • Severe skin reactions like rashes, blisters, hives, redness, facial swelling, or heavy sweating.
  • Skin hardening (scleroderma), muscle pain, or joint pain.
  • Kidney damage, severe bladder inflammation, constant thirst and frequent urination, or abnormal bladder cells.
  • Premature birth.
  • Infertility, problems with ovaries or testicles, irregular or absent periods, or hormone imbalances.
  • Fetal death, birth defects, or slow fetal growth.
  • Swelling or flu-like symptoms.
  • Changes in blood test results (like LDH or CRP).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to cyclophosphamide or have had an allergic reaction like breathing problems, rash, or swelling.
  • Tell your doctor if your bone marrow is not working well, especially if you've had chemotherapy or radiation.
  • Do not use if you have bladder inflammation, pain when urinating, or difficulty urinating due to a blockage.
  • Do not use if you have an active infection.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
