How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe the correct dose. For adults, the usual dose is 47.5–190 mg once a day, depending on the condition. For children and adolescents, the dose is based on body weight.

Method

Take the tablet once a day, whole with liquid. Do not chew or crush it. You can take it with or without food.

Important

For adults, the maximum daily dose is usually 190 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to metoprolol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have asthma, diabetes, heart problems, an overactive thyroid, severe allergies, or liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if your heart rate slows down too much.
  • If you wear contact lenses, be aware that this medicine may cause dry eyes.
  • Inform your doctor that you are taking this medicine before any surgery requiring anesthesia.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery if the medicine causes dizziness.
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

  • If you experience any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions especially with with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
