Selexid is an antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections, such as bladder or urethra infections, by killing the bacteria that cause them.
Typically, one 200 mg tablet three times a day for acute bladder infection. For severe infections, your doctor might recommend one 400 mg tablet three times a day. For children over 6 years old and under 40 kg: 20-40 mg/kg per day, divided into three doses.
Swallow the tablets whole with at least half a glass of water or other drink. Avoid taking just before bedtime. Food does not affect the absorption of the medicine.
The maximum daily dose is 1200 mg.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Increase the dosing interval in moderately severe renal impairment. May potentiate the effect of methotrexate. (updated 6.11.2023)
