How to Use

Dosage

The amount you take each day is different for everyone; start as directed by your doctor, usually building up to the right dose for you, with a maximum of 12 sprays per day.

Method

Spray Sativex into your mouth, either on the inside of your cheek or under your tongue, varying the spray area each time.

Important

Do not use more than 12 sprays in one day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to cannabis extracts or any other ingredient in Sativex.
  • Do not use if you or a close relative have mental health problems like schizophrenia, psychosis, or other serious mental illnesses (excluding MS-related depression).
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are under 18 years old.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have epilepsy or regular seizures.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have moderate to severe kidney or liver problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have serious heart problems, such as angina, a history of heart attack, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or heart rhythm issues.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are elderly, especially if you have trouble with daily activities like preparing hot food or drinks.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a history of drug or substance abuse.
  • Both men and women must use reliable contraception during Sativex treatment and for at least three months after stopping it. Sativex can make hormonal birth control less effective, so you should use another method in addition.
  • Do not drive or use machines when you start Sativex treatment until your daily dose is stable and you know how it affects you, as it can cause drowsiness or dizziness.
  • Avoid alcohol, especially when starting treatment or changing your dose, as it can increase the effects of Sativex and alcohol, raising the risk of falls and accidents.
