How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you exactly how much to take. The total daily dose is usually split into two doses.

Method

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you, at the same time each day. You will usually take two doses per day. Measure your dose with the special syringe, mix it with a small amount of juice (not grapefruit juice), and drink it right away.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor prescribes. If you have kidney problems, the first daily dose should not be more than 2.5 mg per kg of your body weight.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Kidney problems.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Headache.
  • Shaking (tremors).
  • More hair growth on your body or face.
  • High levels of fat in your blood.
  • Seizures (fits).
  • Liver problems.
  • High blood sugar.
  • Feeling tired.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), stomach pain, diarrhea.
  • Acne, hot flashes.
  • Fever.
  • Low white blood cell count.
  • Numbness or tingling.
  • Muscle pain, muscle cramps.
  • Stomach ulcer.
  • Gums growing over teeth.
  • High levels of uric acid or potassium in your blood, low levels of magnesium in your blood.
RARE
  • Brain problems, with symptoms like sudden fits, confusion, trouble sleeping, not knowing where you are, vision problems, passing out, weak arms/legs, or trouble moving.
  • Skin rash.
  • General swelling.
  • Weight gain.
  • Low number of red blood cells or platelets, which can increase bleeding risk.
  • Nerve problems, with numbness or tingling in your fingers and toes.
  • Pancreatitis (swelling of the pancreas) with strong upper stomach pain.
  • Muscle weakness, loss of muscle strength, or pain in arm, leg, or body muscles.
  • Red blood cells breaking down, causing kidney problems and symptoms like swelling of the face, belly, hands, and/or feet, less urination, trouble breathing, chest pain, fits, or passing out.
  • Changes in menstrual cycle, or breast growth in men.
  • Swelling behind the eye, which can lead to more pressure in the head and vision problems.
  • Severe liver problems, possibly with yellow skin/eyes, feeling sick, loss of appetite, dark urine, or swelling of the face, feet, hands, and/or whole body.
  • Bleeding under the skin or purple-red spots on the skin, sudden bleeding without a clear reason.
  • Migraine or severe headache, often with feeling sick, throwing up, and sensitivity to light.
  • Pain in your shins and feet.
  • Hearing loss.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ciclosporin or any other ingredient.
  • Do not share this medicine; it is only for you.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, as this medicine is generally not recommended.
  • This medicine weakens your immune system, increasing your risk of skin cancer. Protect yourself from the sun.

  • Report any signs of infection, such as fever or sore throat, to your doctor immediately.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, high blood pressure, gout, or unusual magnesium/potassium levels.
  • If taking for an autoimmune disease (not transplant), do not use if you have kidney problems (except nephrotic syndrome), uncontrolled infection, cancer, or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • This medicine contains alcohol and castor oil, which might cause stomach upset. Discuss with your doctor if giving to infants under 4 weeks, especially if they use other medicines with alcohol or propylene glycol.
