How to Use

Dosage

One inhalation twice a day (morning and evening).

Method

Breathe the medicine deeply into your lungs through your mouth. Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after each use to prevent fungal infections and hoarseness.

Important

Do not take more than two inhalations per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, which usually goes away with continued treatment.
  • Increased number of common colds in patients with COPD.
  • Thrush in the mouth or throat (sore, yellowish, raised patches), sore tongue, hoarseness, and throat irritation.
  • Joint pain and swelling, muscle pain, and muscle cramps.
  • Bruises and bone fractures (in patients with COPD).
  • Sinus infection (feeling of pressure or stuffiness in the nose, cheeks, or behind the eyes, sometimes with throbbing pain).
  • Low blood potassium (may cause irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, or cramps).
RARE
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
  • Cataracts (clouding of the eye's lens).
  • Very fast heartbeat (tachycardia).
  • Tremors and fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations).
  • Chest pain.
  • Restlessness (mainly in children).
  • Sleep problems.
  • Allergic skin rash.
  • Breathing difficulties or wheezing that worsen immediately after using the medicine (stop use and contact a doctor immediately).
  • Slowed growth in children and adolescents.
  • Thinning of bones.
  • Glaucoma (high pressure in the eye).
  • Weight gain.
  • Rounded face (moon face) (Cushing's syndrome).
  • Behavior changes, such as unusual activity and irritability (mainly in children).
  • Uneven or irregular heartbeat or extra beats (arrhythmias).
  • Fungal infection in the esophagus, which may cause difficulty swallowing.
  • Depression or aggression (more likely in children).
  • Blurred vision.
  • Abdominal pain, fatigue and loss of appetite, feeling unwell, nausea and diarrhea, weight loss, headache or drowsiness, low blood sugar, low blood pressure, and seizures (symptoms of adrenal insufficiency if medicine is stopped suddenly).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or lactose.
  • Do not use this medicine for sudden asthma attacks or shortness of breath. Use your fast-acting rescue inhaler for such situations.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, diabetes, low blood potassium, or a lung infection.
  • Contact your doctor if your vision blurs or you have other vision problems.
  • Children under 12 years of age should not use this medicine.
