How to Use

Dosage

Two puffs twice a day.

Method

Inhale through the mouth into the lungs.

Important

Do not exceed the prescribed dose, usually two puffs twice daily (total 4 puffs).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • More common colds (especially in COPD patients)
  • Thrush (sore, yellowish patches) in the mouth or throat, sore tongue, hoarseness, throat irritation
  • Aching, swollen joints and muscle pain
  • Muscle cramps
  • Pneumonia (lung infection) in COPD patients, with symptoms like fever, chills, increased mucus, changes in mucus color, cough, or worsening breathing
  • Bruises and fractures
  • Sinus infection (feeling of pressure or blockage in the nose, cheeks, behind the eyes, sometimes with throbbing pain)
  • Low blood potassium (can cause irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, cramps)
RARE
  • Increased blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
  • Clouding of the eye lens (cataracts)
  • Very fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Tremor (shaking) and fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Chest pain
  • Feeling of restlessness (mainly in children)
  • Sleep problems
  • Allergic skin rash
  • Breathing difficulties or wheezing that worsen right after using the inhaler
  • Slowed growth in children and adolescents
  • Brittle bones
  • Glaucoma (an eye condition affecting vision)
  • Weight gain
  • Rounded face (known as 'moon face'), a sign of Cushing's syndrome
  • Irregular heartbeat or extra heartbeats (arrhythmia)
  • Behavioral changes, such as unusual activity and irritability (mainly in children)
  • Fungal infection in the esophagus, causing difficulty swallowing
  • Depression or aggression (more likely in children)
  • Blurred vision

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor about any existing health conditions, such as heart problems, overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, diabetes, low potassium, or any lung infection (including tuberculosis).
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other vision problems.
  • Do not stop using this medicine or change your dose without talking to your doctor first.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if your asthma gets worse or your breathing becomes difficult, even if you are using this medicine regularly.

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.
  • This medicine may cause blurred vision. If this happens, do not drive or use machines until your vision returns to normal.
  • If you experience a sudden worsening of breathing, wheezing, cough, rash, swelling of the face/lips/tongue, or a very fast heartbeat after using this medicine, stop it immediately and tell your doctor.
