How to Use

Dosage

Take two puffs twice a day.

Method

Breathe the medicine into your lungs through your mouth using the inhaler.

Important

Do not take more than the four puffs (inhalations) prescribed by your doctor per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache (often goes away with continued use).
  • Sore, yellowish patches in the mouth or throat, tongue pain, hoarseness, throat irritation.
  • Aching, swollen joints and muscle pain.
  • Muscle cramps.
  • Lung infection (pneumonia) in COPD patients, with symptoms like fever, chills, increased mucus, changes in mucus color, cough, or worsening breathing.
  • Bruising and bone fractures.
  • Sinus infection (pressure or blocked feeling in nose, cheeks, behind eyes, sometimes with throbbing pain).
  • Low potassium levels in the blood (can cause irregular heart rhythm, muscle weakness, or cramps).
RARE
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
  • Clouding of the eye lens (cataract).
  • Very fast heartbeat (tachycardia).
  • Shaking (tremor) and fast or irregular heartbeats (palpitations) – usually harmless and decrease with continued use.
  • Chest pain.
  • Feeling of restlessness (mainly in children).
  • Problems sleeping.
  • Allergic skin rash.
  • Breathing difficulties or wheezing that get worse right after taking the medicine.
  • Slower growth in children and teenagers.
  • Weakening of bones.
  • Glaucoma (an eye disease that affects vision).
  • Weight gain.
  • Rounded face (Cushing's syndrome).
  • Irregular heartbeat or extra heartbeats (arrhythmia).
  • Changes in behavior, like being unusually active or irritable (mainly in children).
  • Fungal infection in the esophagus, which can make swallowing difficult.
  • Depression or aggression (more likely in children).
  • Blurred vision.

  • This medicine is only for you; do not give it to others, even if they have similar symptoms.

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, diabetes, low potassium, or a lung infection.

  • Contact your doctor right away if your asthma gets worse or your breathing becomes difficult.
  • This medicine is not for sudden asthma attacks; always use your fast-acting rescue inhaler for those.
  • Do not stop using this medicine or change your dose without first talking to your doctor.
  • Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out, or brush your teeth after each dose to help prevent oral thrush and hoarseness.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have children, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.
  • If your vision becomes blurred, do not drive or use machines until your vision returns to normal.
  • Doctors will check the growth of children and teenagers who use high doses of this medicine for a long time.
