How to Use

Dosage

Start with one 50 mg tablet once a day. Your doctor may increase this to one 100 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water, preferably in the morning. You can take it with or without food.

Important

If you have moderate liver problems, do not take more than 50 mg per day.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to safinamide or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are using certain other medicines like MAO inhibitors (for Parkinson's, depression) or pethidine (a strong painkiller). Wait at least 7 days after stopping Safinamide Vivanta before starting these medicines.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have certain eye diseases that could damage your retina (the light-sensitive part at the back of your eye), such as albinism, retinal degeneration, uveitis, hereditary retinal disease, or severe diabetic retinal disease.
  • Be aware of changes in behavior, such as strong urges for gambling, increased sexual desire, overspending, or acting impulsively. Talk to your doctor if you notice these.

  • You might experience uncontrolled jerky movements, or they might get worse if you take this medicine with levodopa.
  • Do not use Safinamide Vivanta if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Use effective birth control if you could become pregnant.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy or dizzy. Do not drive or use dangerous machines until you know how it affects you.
