How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 24 mg/26 mg or 49 mg/51 mg tablet, taken once in the morning and once in the evening. Your doctor will adjust the dose over time to find what works best. The usual target dose is one 97 mg/103 mg tablet, taken once in the morning and once in the evening.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. You can take them with or without food. Do not split or crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is one 97 mg/103 mg tablet taken twice a day (morning and evening).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low blood pressure (can cause dizziness or lightheadedness).
  • High potassium in your blood (seen in blood tests).
  • Worsening kidney function (kidney failure).
  • Cough.
  • Dizziness.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia), seen in blood tests.
  • Feeling very tired.
  • Sudden kidney problems (acute kidney failure).
  • Low potassium in your blood (seen in blood tests).
  • Headache.
  • Fainting.
  • Weakness.
  • Nausea.
  • Dizziness or feeling faint when standing up.
  • Stomach inflammation (stomach pain, nausea).
  • Low blood sugar (seen in blood tests).
RARE
  • Allergic reaction with rash and itching.
  • Dizziness when standing up from a sitting position.
  • Low sodium in your blood (seen in blood tests).
  • Seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there (hallucinations).
  • Changes in sleep patterns (trouble sleeping).
  • Feeling paranoid.
  • Swelling in the intestines (intestinal angioedema) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Sudden, uncontrolled muscle twitching.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to sacubitril, valsartan, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are currently using or have recently used an ACE inhibitor (another heart or blood pressure medicine) in the last 36 hours.
  • Do not take if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction called angioedema (sudden swelling of the face, throat, hands, or feet, which can be life-threatening) after taking an ACE inhibitor or ARB medicine.
  • Do not take if you have ever had hereditary angioedema or angioedema of unknown cause.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or poor kidney function and are taking a blood pressure medicine that contains aliskiren.
