How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 24 mg/26 mg or 49 mg/51 mg tablet twice a day (one in the morning and one in the evening); the usual target dose is 97 mg/103 mg twice a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not split or crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 194 mg/206 mg, taken as 97 mg/103 mg twice a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension), which can cause dizziness and light-headedness.
  • High potassium levels in the blood, seen in blood tests (hyperkalemia).
  • Decreased kidney function (renal impairment).
  • Cough
  • Light-headedness
  • Diarrhea
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia)
  • Tiredness (fatigue)
  • Acute kidney failure
  • Low potassium levels in the blood (hypokalemia)
  • Headache
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Weakness (asthenia)
  • Nausea
  • Low blood pressure when standing up from sitting or lying down (orthostatic hypotension)
  • Gastritis (stomach pain, nausea)
  • Feeling dizzy (vertigo)
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
RARE
  • Allergic reaction with rash and itching (hypersensitivity)
  • Dizziness when changing position from sitting to standing (postural dizziness)
  • Low sodium levels in the blood, seen in blood tests (hyponatremia)
  • Seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • Changes in sleep patterns (sleep disturbances)
  • Paranoia
  • Intestinal angioedema: swelling in the intestines with symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Sudden involuntary muscle jerks (myoclonus)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to sacubitril, valsartan, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are using an ACE inhibitor; wait 36 hours after the last dose of an ACE inhibitor before starting this medicine.
  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you experience swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing (angioedema).
  • Do not take if you have a history of hereditary angioedema or angioedema with an unknown cause.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.
