How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 24 mg/26 mg or 49 mg/51 mg tablet twice a day (one in the morning and one in the evening). Your doctor may adjust the dose every 2-4 weeks. The usual target dose is 97 mg/103 mg twice a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food. Do not break or crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 194 mg/206 mg, achieved by taking 97 mg/103 mg twice daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • low blood pressure (which can cause dizziness and light-headedness)
  • high potassium levels in the blood (seen in blood tests)
  • worsening kidney function
  • cough
  • light-headedness
  • diarrhoea
  • low red blood cell count (seen in blood tests)
  • tiredness
  • sudden inability of the kidneys to work properly (acute renal failure)
  • low potassium levels in the blood (seen in blood tests)
  • headache
  • fainting
  • weakness
  • nausea
  • low blood pressure (dizziness, fainting) when changing position from sitting or lying to standing
  • stomach inflammation (stomach pain, nausea)
  • spinning sensation (dizziness)
  • low blood sugar levels (seen in blood tests)
RARE
  • allergic reaction with rash and itching
  • dizziness when standing up from sitting or lying down (postural dizziness)
  • low sodium levels in the blood (seen in blood tests)
  • seeing, hearing or feeling things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • changes in sleep patterns (sleep disorders)
  • paranoia
  • intestinal angioedema: swelling in the intestines with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea
  • sudden involuntary muscle twitching

Important Warnings

  • If you experience swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical help. This could be a serious allergic reaction called angioedema.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are currently taking blood pressure medicines called ACE inhibitors. Wait 36 hours after your last ACE inhibitor dose before starting Sacubitril/Valsartan Krka.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant (especially if more than 3 months pregnant) or breastfeeding.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or poor kidney function and are also taking a blood pressure medicine that contains aliskiren.
