How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 40 kg usually take 150 mg twice a day, 12 hours apart, or 300 mg once a day, as prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Take the tablets on an empty stomach at least 15 minutes before a meal and swallow them with enough liquid.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 300 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Nausea, stomach pain
  • Diarrhea, vomiting
  • Rash
RARE
  • Increased white blood cell count
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Hives, skin redness (erythema multiforme)
  • New infections caused by resistant bacteria or fungi, especially with long-term use
  • Severe skin reactions with red, scaly rash, bumps under the skin, or blisters (exanthematous pustulosis)
  • Severe diarrhea due to bowel infection (pseudomembranous colitis)
  • Sudden rash, breathing difficulties, and fainting due to severe allergy (anaphylactic shock)
  • Serious irregular heart rhythm with fast, uneven heartbeats (QT prolongation, Torsades de Pointes)
  • Difficulty breathing or asthma-like symptoms (bronchospasm)
  • Liver inflammation, yellow skin/eyes (jaundice), or liver cell damage
  • Severe skin peeling (toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Severe stomach pain and fever due to pancreas inflammation
  • Bleeding in the skin and mucous membranes, or bruises due to changes in blood (low platelet count)
  • Rash and skin inflammation, especially on hands, feet, and around the mouth, with fever (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • General unwellness, increased infection risk, especially sore throat and fever due to blood changes (agranulocytosis, neutropenia)
  • Bloody diarrhea
  • Fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Hives and swelling (angioedema), which can be severe, especially if it affects the face, throat, or tongue
  • Increased liver enzyme levels
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), confusion
  • Tingling or numbness in the skin (paresthesia)
  • Purple spots on the skin (purpura)
  • Vision problems, blurred vision
  • Changes in taste or smell, or loss of taste/smell
  • Temporary hearing loss, deafness, dizziness

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to roxithromycin or other similar antibiotics (macrolides).
  • Do not use if you are taking certain migraine medicines (like ergotamine) or certain medicines for allergies (terfenadine, astemizole), stomach problems (cisapride), or mental health (pimozide).
  • Tell your doctor if you have low potassium or magnesium, a very slow or irregular heartbeat, or a serious heart rhythm disorder.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, severe diarrhea, or a muscle weakness condition called myasthenia gravis.
  • If you develop a severe skin rash with blisters, peeling skin, or flu-like symptoms, stop the medicine and seek urgent medical help immediately.
