How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet once a day, with the strength prescribed by your doctor.

Method

You can take it with or without food, at any time of day. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Try to take it at the same time every day.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Constipation

  • Muscle pain

  • Diabetes (more likely if you have high blood sugar and fat, are overweight, or have high blood pressure; your doctor will monitor this).

  • Increased liver enzyme levels shown in blood tests.
RARE
  • Rash, itching, hives
  • Increased protein in urine (usually corrects itself).
  • Increased muscle enzyme levels (CK, creatinine kinase) in blood tests.
  • Cough
  • Heartburn
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle cramps
  • Chest pain
  • Hot flushes
  • High blood pressure
  • Tingling sensations
  • Dry mouth
  • Stomach inflammation (gastritis)
  • Back pain
  • Swelling, especially in hands and feet
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas causing severe stomach pain that may spread to your back)
  • Low blood platelet count
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes)
  • Hepatitis (inflammation of the liver)
  • Nerve damage in arms and legs (e.g., numbness)
  • Memory loss
  • Enlarged breasts in men (gynecomastia)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sleep disturbances, including insomnia and nightmares
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Depression
  • Tendon injuries
  • Persistent muscle weakness
  • Gallstones or gallbladder inflammation (which can cause stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting)
  • Myasthenia gravis (a disease causing general muscle weakness, in some cases also affecting breathing muscles)
  • Ocular myasthenia (a disease causing eye muscle weakness)

Important Warnings

  • If you experience swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing, or if you get severe skin rashes, blisters, or peeling skin in your mouth, eyes, or genitals (Stevens-Johnson syndrome or DRESS syndrome). Stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical help.
  • If you have unusual or long-lasting muscle pain or aches. In rare cases, this can lead to serious muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis), which may cause feeling unwell, fever, and kidney problems. Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have lupus-like symptoms (such as skin rash, joint pain, and blood cell problems). Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have a torn muscle. Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to rosuvastatin, ezetimibe, or any other ingredients in this medicine.

  • Do not use this medicine if you have liver disease.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have severe kidney problems.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have recurring, unexplained muscle pain or aches.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking a medicine called ciclosporin (used, for example, after organ transplants).
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor. Women must use reliable contraception during this treatment.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have myasthenia (a disease causing general muscle weakness).
  • Talk to your doctor if you are of Asian origin (e.g., Japanese, Chinese), as your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are taking medicines for infections, including HIV or hepatitis C virus medicines.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe lung disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are taking fibrates (other cholesterol-lowering medicines).
  • Talk to your doctor if you regularly drink large amounts of alcohol.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an underactive thyroid gland.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are over 70 years old, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have used or are using fusidic acid (for bacterial infections), as its use with this medicine can cause severe muscle problems.
  • If you have diabetes or a high risk of developing diabetes (high blood sugar and fat levels, overweight, high blood pressure), your doctor will monitor your condition closely during this treatment.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
