How to Use

Dosage

One tablet.

Method

Take one tablet orally once a day, with or without food. Swallow it whole with water at the same time each day.

Important

One tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Muscle pain
  • Feeling weak
  • Dizziness
  • Increased protein in urine (usually gets better on its own)
  • Diabetes (more likely if you have high blood sugar, high fats, are overweight, or have high blood pressure)
  • Higher levels of liver enzymes in blood tests
  • Muscle tenderness or weakness
  • Diarrhea
  • Gas
  • Tiredness
RARE
  • Rash, itching, or other skin reactions
  • Increased protein in urine (for 5-20mg rosuvastatin doses, usually gets better on its own)
  • Tingling sensations
  • Dry mouth
  • Hives (itchy red welts)
  • Back pain
  • Muscle weakness or pain in arms and legs
  • Swelling, especially in hands and feet
  • Higher levels of a muscle enzyme (CK) in blood tests
  • Cough
  • Indigestion
  • Heartburn
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle cramps
  • Neck pain
  • Reduced appetite
  • Pain
  • Chest pain
  • Hot flashes
  • High blood pressure
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, making it hard to breathe or swallow, and severe itchy skin.
  • Serious muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis), which can cause persistent, unusual muscle pain or weakness.
  • Severe stomach pain due to inflammation of the pancreas.
  • Low blood cell count, which can lead to easy bruising or bleeding.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis).
  • Small amounts of blood in your urine.
  • Nerve damage in your arms and legs (like numbness or tingling).
  • Memory loss.
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia).
  • Sleep problems, including trouble sleeping and nightmares.
  • Sexual problems.
  • Depression.
  • Breathing problems, including ongoing cough, shortness of breath, or fever.
  • Tendon injury.
  • Persistent muscle weakness.
  • Liver disorder.
  • Raised red rashes on the skin, sometimes target-shaped (erythema multiforme).
  • Muscle tissue breakdown.
  • Gallstones or gallbladder inflammation (can cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting).
  • Myasthenia gravis (a disease causing general muscle weakness, including breathing muscles) or ocular myasthenia (a disease causing eye muscle weakness).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to rosuvastatin, ezetimibe, or any other ingredients in it.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant, stop taking it and tell your doctor right away.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or kidney disease.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have unexplained muscle aches or weakness, especially with fever.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are taking medicines for Hepatitis C (sofosbuvir, velpatasvir, voxilaprevir) or ciclosporin (for organ transplants). Also, tell your doctor if you have taken fusidic acid in the last 7 days.

  • Talk to your doctor if you regularly drink a lot of alcohol or have myasthenia (a disease causing muscle weakness).
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor immediately if you develop a severe skin rash, peeling skin, blisters, or mouth sores.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
