How to Use

Dosage

The starting dose is usually 5 mg or 10 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water once a day, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 40 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Muscle pain
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Increased protein in urine (usually goes away on its own)
  • Developing diabetes (more likely if you have high blood sugar, high blood fat, are overweight, or have high blood pressure)
RARE
  • Skin rash, itching, or other mild skin reactions
  • Severe stomach pain (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Increased liver enzymes in blood
  • Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Small amounts of blood in urine
  • Nerve damage in arms or legs (e.g., numbness)
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia)
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling (edema)
  • Sleep problems, including insomnia and nightmares
  • Sexual problems
  • Depression
  • Tendon injury
  • Long-lasting muscle weakness
  • Myasthenia gravis (a condition causing general muscle weakness, sometimes affecting breathing)
  • Ocular myasthenia (a condition causing eye muscle weakness)

Important Warnings

  • Stop using Rosuvastatin Xiromed and get medical help right away if you have signs of an allergic reaction, like swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or severe itching.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, might become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Use reliable birth control during treatment.
  • Stop taking Rosuvastatin Xiromed and seek immediate medical attention if you get a severe rash, high fever, swollen glands, or skin peeling (signs of very serious skin reactions).
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also feel unwell or have a fever.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.

  • Inform your doctor if you are taking ciclosporin (used for organ transplants) or fusidic acid (an antibiotic), as you may need to stop Rosuvastatin Xiromed temporarily.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
