How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the starting dose is usually 5 mg or 10 mg once a day. For children aged 6-17 years, the dose is 5-20 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water once a day. You can take it with or without food, at any time, but try to take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 40 mg. For children aged 6-17 years, the maximum dose is 10 mg or 20 mg, depending on the condition being treated.

  • Headache

  • Muscle pain

  • Dizziness
  • Increased protein in urine (usually returns to normal without stopping the medicine).
  • Diabetes (more likely if you have high blood sugar, high fat levels, are overweight, or have high blood pressure).
RARE
  • Rash, itching, or other skin reactions.
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of face/throat, trouble breathing, severe itching, blisters).
  • Muscle damage, including persistent muscle weakness.
  • Severe stomach pain (pancreatitis).
  • Elevated liver enzymes in blood.
  • Increased tendency to bleed or bruise easily (due to low platelet count).
  • Lupus-like syndrome (symptoms like rash, joint pain, effects on blood cells).
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Liver inflammation (hepatiitti).
  • Small amounts of blood in urine.
  • Nerve damage in legs and arms (e.g., numbness).
  • Joint pain.
  • Memory loss.
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia).
  • Diarrhea.
  • Cough.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Swelling (edema).
  • Sleep problems (including insomnia and nightmares).
  • Sexual problems.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to rosuvastatin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant, stop using it right away and tell your doctor.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease or severe kidney disease.
  • Do not use if you have muscle pain or aches that keep coming back and have no clear cause.
  • Do not use if you are taking medicines for Hepatitis C (sofosbuvir, velpatasvir, and voxilaprevir) or ciclosporin (used after organ transplants).

  • Tell your doctor if you regularly drink a lot of alcohol.
  • Tell your doctor if your thyroid gland does not work normally.
  • Tell your doctor if you have moderate kidney disease (this applies to doses lower than 40 mg).
  • Tell your doctor if you are over 70 years old.
  • Tell your doctor if you are of Asian descent (from Japan, China, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, or India).
  • Stop taking this medicine and get immediate medical help if you have trouble breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, very itchy skin, blisters, or a widespread rash. These are signs of a serious allergic reaction.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor right away if you have unusual or long-lasting muscle pain or aches, muscle weakness, or symptoms like rash and joint pain (lupus-like syndrome).

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
