How to Use

Dosage

The starting dose is usually 5 mg or 10 mg once daily. Your doctor will decide your dose based on your cholesterol levels and risks. For children (6-17 years), the usual dose is 5-20 mg once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water once daily. You can take them at any time of day, with or without food. Try to take your medicine at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 40 mg. For children aged 6–17 years, the maximum daily dose is 10 mg or 20 mg, depending on the condition being treated.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Muscle pain
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Increased protein in urine (usually goes away on its own)
  • Diabetes (more likely if you have high blood sugar, high fat levels, are overweight, or have high blood pressure)
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling, difficulty breathing, severe itching)
  • Muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis), which can be life-threatening
  • Severe stomach pain (pancreatitis)
  • Increased liver enzymes in blood
  • Easier bleeding or bruising (due to low platelet count)
  • Lupus-like syndrome (rash, joint pain, effects on blood cells)
  • Rash or itching
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Small amounts of blood in urine
  • Nerve damage in arms or legs (like numbness)
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia)
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling (edema)
  • Sleep problems, including insomnia and nightmares
  • Sexual problems
  • Depression
  • Long-term muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis or ocular myasthenia)

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and seek medical help immediately if you have a severe allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or severe itching.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor right away if you experience unusual or long-lasting muscle pain or aches, especially if you also have a fever or feel unwell.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe skin reactions like a widespread rash, peeling skin, blisters, or sores in your mouth or eyes (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome or DRESS syndrome).
  • Do not use Rosuvastatin Krka if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to get pregnant. Use reliable birth control during treatment.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or kidney disease.

  • Inform your doctor if you regularly drink large amounts of alcohol.
  • If you are taking fusidic acid (an antibiotic), you must temporarily stop taking Rosuvastatin Krka. Your doctor will tell you when it is safe to restart.
  • Do not take 30 mg or 40 mg doses if you have moderate kidney problems, an underactive thyroid, muscle problems from other statins, are of Asian origin, or take fibrates (other cholesterol-lowering medicines).
