How to Use

Dosage

Adults usually start with 5 mg or 10 mg once a day. For reducing heart attack risk, the recommended dose is 20 mg daily. Children (6-17 years) usually start with 5 mg daily, up to 20 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, once a day. You can take it with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 40 mg. For children (6-17 years), the maximum daily dose is 10 mg or 20 mg, and they should not take the 40 mg tablet.

  • Increased protein in urine (usually temporary, for 40 mg dose only)
RARE
  • Skin rash, itching or other skin reactions
  • Muscle damage in adults (stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor about unusual muscle pain)
  • Severe stomach pain (pancreatitis)
  • Increased liver enzymes in blood
  • Bleeding or bruising more easily (due to low blood platelets)
  • Lupus-like syndrome (including rash, joint pain, and effects on blood cells)
  • Jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes)
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Small amounts of blood in urine
  • Nerve damage in legs and arms (e.g., numbness)
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia)
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling (edema)
  • Sleep problems, including insomnia and nightmares
  • Sexual problems
  • Depression
  • Tendon injury
  • Persistent muscle weakness
  • Myasthenia gravis (generalized muscle weakness, including breathing muscles)
  • Ocular myasthenia (eye muscle weakness)

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you get a severe allergic reaction (like swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, trouble breathing, or severe skin rash).
  • Tell your doctor right away and stop taking this medicine if you have unusual or long-lasting muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially with fever or feeling generally unwell.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding. Women must use effective contraception during treatment.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver disease or severe kidney problems.
  • Avoid large amounts of alcohol while taking this medicine.

  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially if you are on cyclosporine, HIV/HCV treatments, or fusidic acid, as these can interact with Rosuvastatin Krka.
  • The 40 mg dose is not suitable for children and adolescents under 18 years. This medicine is not for children under 6 years.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
