How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 5 mg or 10 mg once a day, but your doctor will decide the right dose for you.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take your medicine once a day, at any time, but try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum dose is 40 mg per day, and this is only used if your cholesterol is very high or you have a high risk of heart attack.

  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Muscle pain
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Increased protein in urine (usually goes away on its own)
  • Risk of developing diabetes (more likely if you have high blood sugar, fats, are overweight, or have high blood pressure)
RARE
  • Skin rash, itching, or other skin reactions
  • Serious muscle damage (if you have persistent muscle pain, stop and see a doctor)
  • Severe stomach pain (pancreatitis)
  • Increased liver enzyme levels in blood
  • Easier bleeding or bruising (due to low platelet count)
  • Lupus-like syndrome (rash, joint problems, effects on blood cells)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Blood in urine
  • Nerve damage in legs and arms (e.g., numbness)
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia)
  • Diarrhea, cough, shortness of breath, swelling, sleep problems (insomnia, nightmares), sexual problems, depression, persistent cough/shortness of breath or fever, tendon injury, or ongoing muscle weakness.

Important Warnings

  • If you have an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe skin reactions (rash, blisters), stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical help.
  • If you have unexplained muscle pain, soreness, or weakness that continues, especially if you also have a fever, tell your doctor right away.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant. Use effective contraception during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a muscle weakness condition like myasthenia gravis, as this medicine might make it worse.

  • Avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, especially other cholesterol-lowering drugs, HIV medicines, or fusidic acid (an antibiotic), as they can interact with Rosuvastatin Krka.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
