How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 5 mg or 10 mg once a day. Your doctor will decide your dose.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Take it once a day, preferably at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 40 mg for adults. For children and adolescents (6-17 years), the maximum dose is 10 mg or 20 mg per day.

  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Muscle pain
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Temporary increase in protein in urine (with 40mg dose only)
  • Higher risk of diabetes if you have certain risk factors like high blood sugar, high fat levels, overweight, or high blood pressure.
RARE
  • Rash, itching, or other skin reactions
  • Temporary increase in protein in urine (for 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg doses)
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, intense itching)
  • Muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Severe stomach pain (pancreatitis)
  • Increased liver enzyme levels in blood
  • Easier bleeding or bruising due to low platelet count
  • Lupus-like syndrome (rash, joint pain, blood cell effects)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Small amounts of blood in urine
  • Nerve damage in arms or legs (numbness)
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia)
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling (edema)
  • Sleep problems (insomnia, nightmares)
  • Sexual problems
  • Depression
  • Tendon injury
  • Persistent muscle weakness
  • Myasthenia Gravis (general muscle weakness or eye muscle weakness)

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to rosuvastatin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop taking the medicine immediately and tell your doctor.
  • If you have severe liver disease or severe kidney disease.
  • If you have muscle pain or weakness that does not go away. Tell your doctor immediately.
  • If you are taking certain medicines for Hepatitis C (sofosbuvir, velpatasvir, voxilaprevir) or ciclosporin (used after organ transplants).

  • For the 40mg dose: do not use if you have moderate kidney problems, thyroid problems, drink a lot of alcohol, are of Asian origin, or take other fibrate medicines.
  • If you experience serious skin reactions (like widespread rash, fever, or blistering), stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away.
  • If you need to take fusidic acid (an antibiotic), you must temporarily stop taking Rosuvastatin Krka. Your doctor will tell you when it's safe to restart.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
