How to Use

Dosage

Start with 2 mg once a day for the first week. Your doctor may then increase your dose to 4 mg once a day from the second week. The dose may be slowly adjusted to find the best amount for you.

Method

Take Ropinirol Orion once a day at the same time each day. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not break, chew, or crush the tablets, as this can lead to an overdose.

Important

Some people take up to 24 mg of Ropinirol Orion per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fainting
  • Feeling sleepy
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
COMMON
  • Suddenly falling asleep without warning
  • Seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not real (hallucinations)
  • Vomiting (being sick)
  • Dizziness (feeling like spinning)
  • Heartburn
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Swollen legs, feet, or hands
RARE
  • Dizziness or feeling weak, especially when standing up quickly (due to low blood pressure)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Extreme sleepiness during the day
  • Mental health problems like severe confusion (delirium), false beliefs (delusions), or strong suspicion (paranoia)
  • Hiccups
  • Allergic reactions like red, itchy skin swelling (hives), swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat causing difficulty swallowing or breathing, rash, or severe itching
  • Changes in liver function shown in blood tests
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Inability to resist urges or temptations to do things that could harm yourself or others, such as: strong urges to gamble excessively, overeating or compulsive eating, excessive spending, increased sexual urges or thoughts
  • Dopamine dysregulation syndrome (using more of the medicine than needed to control motor symptoms)
  • Periods of overactivity, elevated mood, or irritability
  • Withdrawal symptoms after stopping the medicine (depression, apathy, anxiety, tiredness, sweating, or pain)
  • Spontaneous penile erection
  • Uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia) when taken with levodopa
  • Confusion when taken with levodopa

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ropinirol or any of its other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 18 years of age.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious heart problems or severe mental health problems.

  • This medicine can make you feel very sleepy or cause you to fall asleep suddenly without warning. Do not drive or operate machines if this happens.
  • You might experience strong urges or unusual behaviors, such as a strong urge to gamble, overeat, spend excessively, or an increased sex drive. Tell your doctor if this happens.
  • You should avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.
  • Do not stop taking Ropinirol Orion suddenly without talking to your doctor first. Your dose will be gradually reduced.
