How to Use

Dosage

The starting dose is usually 2 mg once daily for the first week. Your doctor may then increase the dose to 4 mg from the second week onwards to find the right amount for you, with a maximum daily dose of 24 mg.

Method

Take one tablet once daily at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not break, chew, or crush the tablet as this can lead to an overdose.

The maximum daily dose is typically 24 mg. Do not take more than your doctor has prescribed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fainting
  • Feeling sleepy or drowsy
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Sudden sleep attacks without warning
  • Hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
  • Vomiting (being sick)
  • Dizziness or spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Heartburn
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Swelling of the legs, feet, or hands
  • Involuntary movements (dyskinesia), especially if taken with levodopa
  • Confusion, especially if taken with levodopa
RARE
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up quickly (due to low blood pressure)
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Extreme daytime sleepiness
  • Mental health problems like severe confusion, delusions (false beliefs), or paranoia (strong suspicion)
  • Hiccups
  • Allergic reactions such as red, itchy swelling of the skin (hives), swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, which can cause swallowing or breathing difficulties, rash, or intense itching.
  • Changes in liver function (shown in blood tests)
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Difficulty resisting impulses or urges that could harm yourself or others, such as strong urges to gamble, increased sexual interest, uncontrolled excessive shopping or spending, or binge eating.
  • Excessive use of Ropinirol Orion (wanting to use higher doses than needed to control motor symptoms), also known as dopamine dysregulation syndrome.
  • Periods of overactivity, elevated mood, or irritability.
  • Symptoms after stopping Ropinirol Orion treatment or reducing the dose, such as depression, apathy, anxiety, fatigue, sweating, or pain (dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome).
  • Spontaneous penile erection.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ropinirol or any other ingredient in this medicine, or if you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Inform your doctor if you have severe heart problems or mental health disorders, or if you are under 18 years old.
  • Tell your doctor if you develop unusual behaviors, such as gambling addiction, overeating, excessive spending, or increased sexual urges, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • This medicine can make you very sleepy or cause you to fall asleep suddenly. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these symptoms or if you experience hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't there).
