How to Use

Dosage

Start with 2 mg once daily for the first week. Your doctor may increase it to 4 mg once daily from the second week. Doses are adjusted to what works best, up to 24 mg daily.

Method

Take once daily at the same time. Swallow the whole tablet with water. Do not split, chew, or crush.

Important

The maximum daily dose can be up to 24 mg, as determined by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fainting
  • Feeling sleepy
  • Nausea
  • Sudden sleep attacks without feeling sleepy first
  • Hallucinations (seeing things that aren't real)
  • Vomiting
  • Dizziness (feeling like you're spinning)
  • Heartburn
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Swelling of legs, feet, or hands
  • Uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia) (especially if taking levodopa)
  • Feeling of confusion (especially if taking levodopa)
RARE
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up quickly (due to low blood pressure)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Very strong daytime sleepiness
  • Mental health problems like confusion, delusions (false beliefs), or paranoia (strong suspicion)
  • Hiccups
  • Allergic reactions such as red, itchy skin swelling (hives), swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat, which can cause difficulty swallowing or breathing, rash, or severe itching.
  • Changes in liver function (seen in blood tests)
  • Aggression
  • Inability to resist strong urges or temptations to do things that could harm yourself or others, such as excessive gambling, increased sex drive, uncontrolled shopping, or compulsive eating.
  • Using more Ropinirol Orion than needed to control symptoms (dopamine dysregulation syndrome).
  • Periods of overactivity, elevated mood, or irritability.
  • After stopping or reducing Ropinirol Orion treatment: depression, apathy, anxiety, fatigue, sweating, or pain (dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome).
  • Spontaneous penile erection.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ropinirole or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine is not for children or adolescents under 18 years old.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe heart problems or severe mental health disorders.

  • Tell your doctor if you or your family notice you developing unusual urges or behaviors, such as gambling, overeating, excessive spending, or increased sexual urges. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or stop treatment.
  • This medicine can make you feel very sleepy or fall asleep suddenly without warning. Do not drive or use machines if you experience this.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as your Parkinson's symptoms could get worse or you could develop serious side effects. Your doctor will reduce your dose gradually.
