How to Use

Dosage

Start with 2 mg once a day for the first week, then your doctor might increase it to 4 mg once a day. Your doctor will adjust the dose to find what works best for you.

Method

Take Ropinirol Krka once a day at the same time each day. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not break, chew, or crush them.

Important

The highest daily dose is usually 24 mg, as decided by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fainting
  • Drowsiness
  • Feeling sick to your stomach (nausea)
  • Sudden sleep attacks
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations)
  • Throwing up (vomiting)
  • Dizziness
  • Heartburn
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Swelling in your legs, feet, or hands
  • Uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia) if taking with L-dopa
  • Confusion if taking with L-dopa
RARE
  • Feeling dizzy or weak when standing up quickly (due to low blood pressure)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Feeling very tired during the day (extreme sleepiness)
  • Mental health problems, such as severe confusion, odd beliefs, or feeling suspicious for no reason
  • Hiccups
  • Allergic reactions (red, itchy skin bumps, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, rash, or intense itching)
  • Changes in how your liver works (seen in blood tests)
  • Acting aggressive
  • Craving more medicine than you need (dopamine dysregulation syndrome)
  • Strong urges to gamble, overeat, or spend excessively
  • Changes in sexual interest or behavior
  • Withdrawal symptoms (depression, apathy, anxiety, tiredness, sweating, pain) if you stop or lower your dose
  • Periods of being overly active, very happy or irritable (mania symptoms)
  • Spontaneous penile erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ropinirole or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to be pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine is not for children under 18 years old.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have serious heart or mental health problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you or your family notice you have strong urges to gamble, overeat, spend too much, or have increased sexual thoughts.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an intolerance to some sugars, like lactose.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy or suddenly fall asleep. Do not drive or operate machines if this happens.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as your Parkinson's symptoms could get much worse.
