How to Use

Dosage

Start with 2 mg once daily for the first week. Your doctor may then increase it to 4 mg once daily from the second week, or more slowly if you are elderly.

Method

Take one tablet once a day at the same time. Swallow it whole with water. Do not break, chew, or crush it, as this can cause an overdose.

Important

Some patients may take up to 24 mg once a day, but always follow your doctor's instructions and do not take more than prescribed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fainting
  • Drowsiness
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Suddenly falling asleep without feeling tired
  • Hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't real)
  • Vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Heartburn
  • Stomach ache
  • Constipation
  • Swelling in legs, feet, or hands
RARE
  • Dizziness or feeling weak, especially when standing up quickly (due to low blood pressure)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Feeling very tired during the day (extreme sleepiness)
  • Mental health problems like severe confusion, delusions (unreasonable thoughts), or paranoia (unreasonable suspicion)
  • Hiccups
  • Allergic reactions like red, itchy bumps on the skin (hives), swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat that can cause difficulty swallowing or breathing, rash, or severe itching.
  • Changes in liver function, shown in blood tests
  • Aggression
  • Excessive use of the medicine (a strong urge to take more dopamine-like medicine than needed for movement problems, called dopamine dysregulation syndrome)
  • Inability to resist impulses that could be harmful, such as strong gambling urges, increased sexual interest or behavior, uncontrolled shopping or spending, binge eating or compulsive eating.
  • After stopping or lowering your dose: depression, apathy, anxiety, tiredness, sweating, or pain (called dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome).
  • Periods of overactivity, high spirits, or irritability (mania symptoms).
  • Spontaneous penile erection.
  • Uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia) or confusion if taken with L-dopa.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ropinirol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney disease or liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or plan to get pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.
  • This medicine is not usually given to people under 18 years old.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have serious heart problems or serious mental health problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you or your family notice unusual urges or behaviors, like a strong urge to gamble, overeat, or increased sexual urges.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an intolerance to certain sugars, like lactose.
  • This medicine can make you very sleepy, and you might fall asleep suddenly. It can also cause you to see or hear things that aren't there. Do not drive or use machines if this happens.
  • Do not stop taking Ropinirol Krka suddenly without talking to your doctor, as your Parkinson's symptoms could get worse or you could have serious side effects.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, including herbal remedies and over-the-counter drugs, as they can affect how Ropinirol Krka works.
  • Tell your doctor if you start or stop smoking while taking Ropinirol Krka, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
