How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 0.6 mg for each kilogram of your body weight.

Method

A doctor will give this medicine into a vein as a single shot or as a continuous drip (infusion) over a longer time.

Important

Your anaesthesiologist will decide the right dose and any extra doses you might need, depending on your condition and the procedure. The effect typically lasts 30-40 minutes.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • The medicine is too strong or not strong enough.
  • The effect of the medicine lasts longer than expected (longer recovery from anesthesia).
  • Long-lasting muscle weakness (prolonged muscle block).
  • Lower blood pressure.
  • Faster heart rate.
  • Pain at the injection site.
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, such as trouble breathing, collapse of blood circulation, and shock.
  • Sudden narrowing of the airways (bronchospasm).
  • Breathing problems related to anesthesia.
  • Muscle weakness.
  • Steroid-induced muscle disease (steroid myopathy).
  • Itching, swelling, skin rash, or redness.
  • Widespread, severe rash.
  • Allergic swelling (angioedema).
  • Hives (urticaria).
  • Paralysis (inability to move).
  • Circulatory problems (circulatory collapse and shock).
  • Breathing failure.
  • No breathing (apnea).
  • Severe allergic reaction with chest pain or heart attack (Kounis syndrome).
  • Enlarged pupils or pupils that do not change size when light or other things change.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to rocuronium bromide, bromide, or any other ingredients in it.
  • Tell your doctor if you are allergic to other muscle relaxing medicines.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or gallbladder problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease or problems with your blood circulation.
  • Tell your doctor if you have swelling (for example, in your ankles).

  • Tell your doctor if you have a disease that affects your nerves or muscles, such as myasthenia gravis.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had a very low body temperature during anesthesia or a severe fever.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a fever, low calcium or potassium, high magnesium, low protein, dehydration, or too much acid in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high carbon dioxide levels in your blood or breathe too fast (hyperventilation).
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe weight loss (cachexia), are very overweight, elderly, or have burns.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby. You should avoid breastfeeding for 6 hours after receiving this medicine.
  • Do not drive or use dangerous machines for 24 hours after treatment, and make sure an adult goes home with you.
