This medicine is given as an injection into a muscle (intramuscularly) or a vein (intravenously) by a healthcare professional.

  • Dry mouth

  • Pounding heart (palpitations)
  • Irregular heartbeat (from the heart's lower chambers)

  • Inability to urinate

  • Paralysis of eye muscles (affecting focus and pupil size)
  • Increased eye pressure
  • Loss of taste
  • Headache
  • Nervousness
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Insomnia (trouble sleeping)
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Impotence
  • Hives and other skin rashes
  • Reduced milk production
  • Severe allergic reaction to the medicine (including a rapidly developing widespread allergic reaction)
  • Mild confusion and/or agitation (especially in elderly patients)
RARE
  • Injection site reactions including itching, swelling, redness, and pain

Important Warnings

  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience swelling of the face, lips, or throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing, itching, or rash, as these may be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • Do not use Robinul if you are allergic to glycopyrronium bromide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Robinul if you are a newborn baby (under 1 month old).
  • Do not use Robinul if you have an eye condition called glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).
  • Do not use Robinul if you have trouble urinating due to a blockage in your urinary tract (e.g., from an enlarged prostate).

  • Do not use Robinul if you have a blockage in your stomach or intestines, a very slow bowel (paralytic ileus), severe ulcerative colitis, or toxic megacolon.
  • Do not use Robinul if your blood circulation is unstable due to sudden bleeding.
  • Do not use Robinul if you have myasthenia gravis (a disease causing muscle weakness).
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart rhythm problems, or heart failure.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an overactive thyroid gland.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an ileostomy or colostomy and you have diarrhea.
  • Tell your doctor if it is very warm around you, or you have a fever, as Robinul can stop you from sweating and may cause heat exhaustion.
  • Tell your doctor if you are elderly.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a disease of the autonomic nervous system (which controls involuntary body functions).
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a hiatal hernia.
  • Tell your doctor if you have uremia (a condition where waste products build up in your blood).
