How to Use

Dosage

Usually one 10 mg tablet once a day, as prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water. You can take it with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day. If you have trouble swallowing the tablet whole, you can crush it and mix it with water or applesauce.

Important

Generally, the maximum dose is one 20 mg tablet per day, but always follow your doctor's instructions.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Bleeding, such as nosebleeds, gum bleeding, or bruises.
  • Anemia (tiredness, pale skin, shortness of breath).
  • Stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Dizziness, headache.
  • Low blood pressure (you might feel dizzy or faint when standing up).
  • Swelling or pain in your arms or legs.
  • Weakness, tiredness, fever.
  • Rash, itchy skin.
  • Increased liver enzyme levels (seen in blood tests).
RARE
  • Bleeding in the brain or inside the head (may cause headache, weakness, vomiting).
  • Allergic reactions, which can cause skin reactions.
  • Fainting.
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
  • Faster heart rate.
  • Muscle or joint bleeding.
  • Liver or kidney problems (seen in blood tests).
  • Low platelet count (increases bleeding risk).

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • If you have heavy bleeding.
  • If you have a condition that increases your risk of severe bleeding, such as a stomach ulcer or bleeding in the brain.
  • If you are taking other medicines that stop blood from clotting (except in specific situations as advised by your doctor).
  • If you have a liver disease that increases your risk of bleeding.
