How to Use

Dosage

Take one 10 mg tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water. You can take it with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is one 10 mg tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling weak, tired, pale skin, or short of breath due to fewer red blood cells.
  • Bleeding from your stomach, intestines, gums, nose, eyes, or under your skin (bruises); coughing up blood; bleeding after surgery or from a wound.
  • Swelling or pain in arms or legs.
  • Kidney problems (may be seen in blood tests).
  • Fever.
  • Stomach pain, indigestion, feeling sick (nausea) or throwing up (vomiting), constipation, or diarrhea.
  • Low blood pressure (can make you feel dizzy or faint when standing up); headache; dizziness.
  • Skin rash; itchy skin.
  • Higher levels of some liver enzymes (may be seen in blood tests).
RARE
  • More serious bleeding, such as in the brain or head; bleeding into a joint (causing pain and swelling); or bleeding into a muscle.
  • Low number of platelets in your blood.
  • Allergic reactions, including skin rashes.
  • Liver problems (may be seen in blood tests); liver inflammation; reduced bile flow; yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice).
  • Fainting; feeling generally unwell; faster heart rate; dry mouth; hives.
  • Changes in other blood tests (bilirubin, pancreatic enzymes).
  • Swelling in a specific area, or a blood clot in the groin after a heart procedure.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are bleeding heavily.
  • Do not take if you have a condition that increases your risk of severe bleeding, such as a stomach ulcer, a brain injury, or recent brain or eye surgery.
  • Do not take if you are already taking other medicines to thin your blood (like warfarin, dabigatran, apixaban, or heparin), unless your doctor tells you to switch medicines or use heparin to keep a catheter open.
  • Do not take if you have a liver disease that increases your risk of bleeding.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Consider renal impairment and body weight when determining the dosage. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. (updated 19.9.2025)
