How to Use

Dosage

The dosage is adjusted individually, starting with a small dose that is gradually increased to a suitable maintenance dose. Never change the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Take Rivatril tablets with plenty of liquid. The tablet can be divided into equal halves.

Important

Always follow your doctor's instructions. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.

  • Reversible precocious puberty (incomplete, early onset puberty)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to clonazepam, other benzodiazepines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing difficulties or severe liver disease.
  • Do not use if you misuse medicines, illegal drugs, or alcohol.
  • If you experience thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Avoid alcohol during treatment, as it can affect how Rivatril works or cause unexpected side effects.

  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor considers it absolutely necessary.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines safely.
  • If you have an intolerance to certain sugars, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly; your doctor will gradually reduce the dose to avoid side effects.
  • In case of overdose or if a child accidentally takes the medicine, contact a doctor or poison control center immediately.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. A long-acting. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 6.10.2025)
