How to Use

Dosage

Usually, take one 15 mg capsule twice daily for the first 3 weeks, then one 20 mg capsule once daily. Your doctor will tell you your exact dose.

Method

Take with food, swallowing the capsule(s) with water. If you can't swallow the capsule whole, mix its contents with water or applesauce and eat immediately.

Important

Do not take more than the dose your doctor prescribed, usually no more than 30 mg in one day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low red blood cells (anemia), which can make you pale, weak, or short of breath.
  • Bleeding from stomach/intestines, urinary/genital areas (including blood in urine, heavy periods), nosebleeds, or gum bleeding.
  • Eye bleeding (including white parts of the eye).
  • Bleeding into tissues or body cavities (bruising).
  • Coughing up blood.
  • Bleeding in or under the skin.
  • Bleeding after surgery.
  • Oozing of blood or fluid from a surgical wound.
  • Swelling in limbs.
  • Pain in limbs.
  • Kidney problems (shown in blood tests).
  • Fever.
  • Stomach pain, indigestion, nausea or vomiting, constipation, diarrhea.
  • Low blood pressure (may cause dizziness or fainting when standing up).
  • Decreased general strength and energy (weakness, fatigue), headache, dizziness.
  • Rash, itchy skin.
  • Blood tests may show increased liver enzymes.
  • Faster heartbeat.
  • Blood tests may show increased bilirubin (a substance from bile).
  • Low platelet count (cells that help blood clot).
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding.
RARE
  • Bleeding in the brain or inside the head.
  • Bleeding into a joint, causing pain and swelling.
  • Allergic reactions, including skin reactions.
  • Liver problems (shown in blood tests).
  • Blood tests may show increased levels of bilirubin, some pancreatic or liver enzymes, or platelet count.
  • Fainting.
  • Feeling unwell.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Hives.
  • Bleeding into a muscle.
  • Blocked bile flow (cholestasis), liver inflammation (hepatitis), including liver damage.
  • Yellowing of skin and eyes (jaundice).
  • Local swelling.
  • Blood clot (hematoma) in the groin after a heart procedure where a catheter was inserted into an artery in the leg.
  • Blood tests may show increased levels of a specific type of bilirubin (direct bilirubin).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe bleeding or a condition that greatly increases your risk of bleeding, such as a stomach ulcer or recent brain/eye surgery.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you need surgery, it is very important to take Rivaroxaban Stada exactly as your doctor tells you, both before and after the procedure.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you notice signs of serious bleeding (e.g., headache, weakness, vomiting, seizures, or severe fatigue), a severe skin reaction (widespread rash, blisters), or a severe allergic reaction (swelling of face/throat, trouble breathing).

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Consider renal impairment and body weight when determining the dosage. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. (updated 19.9.2025)
