How to Use

Dosage

For the first 3 weeks, take one 15 mg tablet twice a day. After 3 weeks, take one 20 mg tablet once a day. Your doctor will decide how long you should take it.

Method

Take with food and swallow the tablet whole with water. If you can't swallow it whole, you can crush it and mix with water or applesauce, then take immediately with food.

Important

Do not take more than the prescribed dose. The maximum daily dose is 30 mg during the first 3 weeks, and 20 mg thereafter.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reduced red blood cells, which can make you look pale and feel weak or short of breath.
  • Bleeding in the stomach or intestines, or urinary and genital areas (including blood in urine and heavy menstrual bleeding).
  • Nosebleeds or bleeding gums.
  • Bleeding into tissues or body cavities (bruising).
  • Bleeding from the eye (including the white part of the eye).
  • Coughing up blood.
  • Bleeding under the skin.
  • Bleeding after surgery or fluid leaking from a surgical wound.
  • Swelling in arms or legs, or pain in limbs.
  • Kidney problems (shown in tests by your doctor).
  • Fever.
  • Stomach pain, indigestion, feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting), constipation, or diarrhea.
  • Low blood pressure (you might feel dizzy or faint when standing up).
  • General weakness and tiredness, headache, dizziness.
  • Rash, itchy skin.
  • Blood tests might show an increase in some liver enzymes.
RARE
  • Bleeding in the brain or inside the head.
  • Bleeding into a joint, causing pain and swelling.
  • Low number of platelets (cells that help blood clot).
  • Allergic reactions, including allergic skin reactions.
  • Liver problems (shown in tests by your doctor).
  • Blood tests might show an increase in bilirubin, some pancreatic or liver enzymes, or platelet count.
  • Fainting or feeling unwell.
  • Fast heartbeat.
  • Dry mouth or hives (itchy rash).
  • Bleeding into a muscle.
  • Blocked bile flow, liver inflammation including liver damage, or yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice).
  • Local swelling.
  • Blood clot (hematoma) in the groin, which can be a complication after a heart procedure where a catheter is inserted into a leg artery.
  • Build-up of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) in the lungs, causing inflammation (eosinophilic lung inflammation).
  • Kidney failure after severe bleeding.
  • Bleeding in the kidney, sometimes with blood in the urine, leading to poor kidney function.
  • Increased pressure in leg or arm muscles after bleeding, causing pain, swelling, altered sensation, numbness, or paralysis (compartment syndrome).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are currently bleeding severely or have a condition that greatly increases your risk of serious bleeding, such as a stomach ulcer, brain injury, or recent brain or eye surgery.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines that thin your blood (like warfarin), unless you are changing medications or using heparin to keep a catheter open.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease, severe kidney disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you need surgery, follow your doctor's instructions carefully about when to stop and restart Rivaroxaban Stada.

  • If you have spinal anesthesia and notice numbness, weakness, or problems with your bladder or bowels in your legs after it wears off, tell your doctor immediately.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years old.
  • Always tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, as some can increase or decrease the effect of Rivaroxaban Stada.
