How to Use

Dosage

To prevent blood clots after hip or knee surgery, typically one 10 mg tablet once daily. For treating blood clots, the dose is one 10 mg or 20 mg tablet once daily, as prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. If you have trouble swallowing, you can crush the tablet and mix it with water or applesauce right before taking it.

Important

Always take the dose prescribed by your doctor; taking too much Rivaroxaban Stada increases the risk of bleeding.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reduction in red blood cells, which can cause pale skin, weakness, or shortness of breath.
  • Bleeding from the stomach, intestines, urinary tract, or genitals (including blood in urine and heavy menstrual bleeding), nosebleeds, or bleeding gums.
  • Bleeding in the eye (including the white part of the eye).
  • Bleeding into tissues or body cavities (bruising, swelling).
  • Coughing up blood.
  • Bleeding on or under the skin.
  • Bleeding after surgery or oozing of blood/fluid from a surgical wound.
  • Swelling or pain in limbs.
  • Reduced kidney function (shown in doctor's tests).
  • Fever.
  • Stomach ache, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea.
  • Low blood pressure (can make you feel dizzy or faint when standing up).
  • General weakness or tiredness, headache, or dizziness.
  • Rash or itchy skin.
  • Increased liver enzymes (shown in blood tests).
RARE
  • Bleeding in the brain or inside the head (can cause headache, one-sided weakness, vomiting, seizures, reduced consciousness, stiff neck – seek urgent medical help).
  • Bleeding into a joint (causing pain and swelling).
  • Low platelet count (cells that help blood clot).
  • Allergic reactions, including skin reactions.
  • Reduced liver function (shown in doctor's tests).
  • Blood tests may show increased bilirubin, certain pancreas or liver enzymes, or platelet count.
  • Fainting or feeling unwell.
  • Fast heartbeat.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Hives (itchy red welts on the skin).
  • Bleeding into a muscle.
  • Liver and bile duct problems (e.g., cholestasis, hepatitis, jaundice, including yellow skin or eyes).
  • Local swelling (e.g., in the groin, due to a blood clot after a heart procedure).
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., spreading rash, blisters, peeling skin, or mouth sores like Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis), or a severe drug reaction with rash, fever, internal organ inflammation, and abnormal blood counts (DRESS syndrome).
  • Severe allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, mouth, tongue, throat, trouble swallowing, hives, sudden drop in blood pressure, anaphylactic shock).
  • Eosinophilic pneumonia (inflammation in the lungs with a type of white blood cell).
  • Kidney failure after severe bleeding.
  • Bleeding in the kidney, sometimes with blood in the urine, leading to kidney problems.
  • Increased pressure in arm or leg muscles after bleeding, causing pain, swelling, altered sensation, numbness, or paralysis (compartment syndrome).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe bleeding.
  • Do not take if you have a disease or condition that increases your risk of serious bleeding, such as a stomach ulcer, brain injury, or recent brain or eye surgery.
  • Do not take if you are currently using other medicines to stop blood from clotting (like warfarin or heparin), unless your doctor tells you to for specific situations.
  • Do not take if you have liver disease that significantly increases your risk of bleeding.

  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, stomach or bowel issues, eye conditions, lung disease, an artificial heart valve, or a condition called antiphospholipid syndrome.
  • Always tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, including herbal remedies like St. John's Wort, as some can interact with Rivaroxaban Stada and change its effects.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy or faint, as this medicine can cause these side effects.
