How to Use

Dosage

Take one 10 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. If you have trouble swallowing, you can crush the tablet and mix it with water or applesauce right before taking.

Important

Do not take more than one 10 mg tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reduced red blood cells, causing pale skin, weakness, or shortness of breath.
  • Bleeding in stomach, intestines, urinary tract, or genitals (including blood in urine and heavy periods), nosebleeds, gum bleeding.
  • Bleeding in the eye (including in the white part of the eye).
  • Bleeding into tissues or body cavities (bruising).
  • Coughing up blood.
  • Bleeding from or under the skin.
  • Bleeding after surgery.
  • Oozing of blood or fluid from a surgical wound.
  • Swelling in limbs.
  • Limb pain.
  • Kidney problems (seen in medical tests).
  • Fever.
  • Stomach pain, indigestion, nausea or vomiting, constipation, diarrhea.
  • Low blood pressure (symptoms like dizziness or fainting when standing up).
  • Reduced general strength and energy (weakness, tiredness), headache, dizziness.
  • Rash, itchy skin.
  • Blood tests may show increased liver enzymes.
RARE
  • Bleeding in the brain or inside the head (symptoms: headache, one-sided weakness, vomiting, seizures, decreased consciousness, stiff neck). Seek urgent medical help.
  • Bleeding into a joint, causing pain and swelling.
  • Low platelet count (cells that help blood clot).
  • Allergic reactions, including allergic skin reactions.
  • Liver problems (seen in medical tests).
  • Blood tests may show increased bilirubin, pancreatic or liver enzymes, or platelet count.
  • Fainting.
  • Feeling unwell.
  • Fast heartbeat.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Hives.
  • Bleeding into a muscle.
  • Blocked bile flow (cholestasis), liver inflammation (hepatitis), including liver damage.
  • Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice).
  • Local swelling.
  • Blood clot in the groin (hematoma), as a complication of a heart procedure involving a catheter in the leg artery (pseudoaneurysm).
  • Accumulation of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) causing inflammation in the lungs (eosinophilic pneumonia).
  • Kidney problems after severe bleeding.
  • Bleeding in the kidney, sometimes with blood in the urine, leading to poor kidney function (anticoagulant-related nephropathy).
  • Increased pressure in leg and arm muscles after bleeding, causing pain, swelling, altered sensations, numbness, or paralysis (compartment syndrome).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are currently bleeding a lot or have conditions that increase your risk of serious bleeding (e.g., stomach ulcer, brain injury or bleeding, recent brain or eye surgery).
  • Do not take this medicine if you are already taking other medicines to prevent blood clotting (like warfarin, dabigatran, apixaban, or heparin), unless your doctor tells you to switch treatments.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a liver disease that increases your bleeding risk or if you have severe kidney disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use reliable birth control if there's a chance you could become pregnant.

  • This medicine is not recommended for people under 18 years of age.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness or fainting. Do not drive or use machines if you feel these symptoms.
  • If you need surgery, especially involving your spine, tell your doctor you are taking this medicine. It is very important to take Rivaroxaban Krka exactly as your doctor tells you before and after surgery.
