Rivaroxaban ADOH is a blood-thinning medicine that prevents and treats blood clots in adults, for example after surgery or for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

How to Use

Dosage

One Rivaroxaban ADOH 10 mg tablet once daily, or as directed by your doctor.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water. It can be taken with or without food. If you have trouble swallowing, the tablet can be crushed and mixed with water or apple puree.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is one 10 mg tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reduced red blood cells, which can cause pale skin, weakness, or shortness of breath.
  • Bleeding in the stomach or intestines.
  • Bleeding in the urinary or genital area (including blood in urine and heavy menstrual bleeding).
  • Nosebleed.
  • Gum bleeding.
  • Eye bleeding (including in the whites of the eyes).
  • Bleeding into tissue or body cavity (hematoma, bruise).
  • Coughing up blood.
  • Bleeding from or under the skin.
  • Post-operative bleeding.
  • Oozing of blood or fluid from a surgical wound.
  • Swelling in limbs.
  • Limb pain.
  • Impaired kidney function (seen in lab tests).
  • Fever.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • Indigestion.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Constipation.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Low blood pressure (may cause dizziness or fainting when standing up).
  • Reduced general strength and energy (weakness, tiredness).
  • Headache.
  • Dizziness.
  • Rash.
  • Itchy skin.
  • Blood tests may show increased levels of certain liver enzymes.
RARE
  • Bleeding in the brain or inside the skull.
  • Bleeding into a joint causing pain and swelling.
  • Thrombocytopenia (low platelet count, which are cells that help blood clot).
  • Allergic reactions, including allergic skin reactions.
  • Impaired liver function (seen in lab tests).
  • Blood tests may show increased bilirubin, pancreatic or liver enzymes, or platelet count.
  • Fainting.
  • Feeling unwell.
  • Fast heartbeat.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Hives.
  • Bleeding into a muscle.
  • Cholestasis (reduced bile flow), hepatitis (liver inflammation, including liver damage).
  • Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice).
  • Local swelling.
  • Blood collection (hematoma) in the groin as a complication after a heart procedure involving a catheter in the leg artery (pseudoaneurysm).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have severe bleeding or a medical condition that increases your risk of serious bleeding (e.g., stomach ulcer, recent brain or eye surgery).
  • Do not take if you are already using other medicines that prevent blood clotting (like warfarin or heparin), unless your doctor tells you to switch treatments.
  • Do not take if you have a liver disease that increases your risk of bleeding.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use reliable birth control if you can become pregnant.

  • Be careful if you have moderate to severe kidney disease, as this can affect how the medicine works.
  • It is very important to take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you before and after surgery.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness or fainting. Do not drive or use machines if you feel these symptoms.
