How to Use

Dosage

For preventing blood clots after hip or knee surgery, the typical dose is one 10 mg tablet once daily. For treating existing blood clots in legs or lungs, and to prevent them from returning, your doctor will prescribe either one 10 mg tablet or one 20 mg tablet once daily, but for this 10 mg product, it is one 10 mg tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day. If you have trouble swallowing, you can crush the tablet and mix it with water or apple sauce right before taking it. After hip or knee surgery, take your first tablet 6-10 hours after the operation. For hip surgery, you usually take it for 5 weeks, and for knee surgery, usually for 2 weeks.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor has prescribed, typically one 10 mg tablet per day, as taking too much increases the risk of bleeding.
